VIP Special Needs Soccer! - The AYSO VIP soccer program is designed for children between the ages of 5 to 15 who have special needs that make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams. **The next registration will be on January 30th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The VIP Spring soccer season will be from February 20, 2010 through March 27, 2010. Soccer sessions are on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. for a cost of $50.00, which includes insurance, a uniform shirt, shorts, socks, and trophy. AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) is an all-volunteer organization that was founded at Okeeheelee Park in 1981. They register at least 1300 children in the mainstream season, ranging in ages from 4 to 18. There is always a need for volunteer coaches, referees and for help in other areas. All volunteers attend a training class be it Coaching, Refereeing, VIP Buddy, or VIP Coaching. AYSO is a great place to earn community service hours for those who need them. The VIP program could use lots of help and is a great place to earn worthwhile community service hours while being a Buddy to a player. VIP Buddy's are mainstream children, ages 10 and older who mentor the VIP players on the field.
